Deadline: April 1, 2007. Offers professional artists (writers, composers, visual and performing artists) the opportunity to spend three weeks in the wilds of the North Rim. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, much of it a true wilderness, offers unparalleled inspiration and unspoiled solitude for artist. The park provides the use of a residence within the park for a three-week period. No stipend is provided. The resident artist shall present two public evening programs concerning your work expeiences and interests during your residency. The resident artist is also required to present daytime public demonstrations of your artwork in progress. The participating artist must donate to the park, within one year of residency, an original work representative of his or her medium which embodies the values of one or more of the Grand Canyon's interpretive themes. Five residencies are now offered to capture the changing seasons. The first begins in late September 2007, the remaining four are from Spring 2008 through August 2008. For more information, call (928) 635-5398. For more information on this and other residencies in national parks, visit http://www.nps.gov/archive/volunteer/air.htm
