June is the month when art lovers from every continent travel to Basel. Their objective? Art Basel - The World's Leading Art Show. Top galleries from Europe, America, Asia and Australia present art from the 20th and 21st century, offering a full spectrum from modern to contemporary art. This explains why some tens of thousands of art lovers, artists, gallery owners, museum directors and leading personalities, together with a cross section of the world's art public have been regulars at Art Basel for the past 34 years. The Paris daily Le Monde gave the show the title 'La meilleure du monde'. The New York Times called it 'Olympicas of Art World' and, to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, it is indisputably 'Kunst in ihrer besten Art'.
Art Chicago
America's finest international exposition of modern and contemporary art. Art Chicago 2004, from May 7-10 at Navy Pier's Festival Hall, marks the twelfth annual international contemporary art fair produced by Thomas Blackman Associates. Please join us in celebrating America's foremost international art show, where over 200 distinguished galleries from around the world will assemble in Chicago to exhibit and sell the works of over 3,000 artists. No other venue in this country offers such a dynamic and concise survey of contemporary art to the public.
ART COLOGNE
ART COLOGNE, Germany's most important art fair, is held each year. Since its founding in 1967, the Cologne International Art Fair has been flagship for all international art fairs, and in terms of its composition and atmosphere, is unique in the world. This status as well as the quality and balance of its range are maintained by an international selection committee. The number of participants, which is restricted to about 250 internationally renowned galleries, guarantees a transparent structure, but at the same time offers a comprehensive overview of the 20th century art scene - from Classical Moderns up to the latest art productions. Apart from the classics the focal points of the range are 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's art.
Art Frankfurt
Art Frankfurt addresses the interests of gallery owners, art professionals and collectors alike, making the fair appealing to all while consolidating its position as the leading European platform for contemporary art. The concept centres around two key objectives: Highlighting the importance to the art market of making art accessible to a wider audience, and promoting continued efforts to introduce a broader range of innovative, yet commercially viable art.
art.fair
art.fair is the art exhibition for contemporary art under € 5.000 in Cologne. In the exclusive environment of the well-known Cologne Palladium, 55 national and international exhibitors show their young program. The emphasis is placed on painting, sculpture and photography.
ARTissima
The International Fair of Contemporary Art in Turin. 150 art galleries, representing 20 countries, will exhibit their finest works at Artissima, the trendiest international contemporary art fair. Only Artissima puts together a selection of the world’s most important galleries and the most innovative artists and galleries of the emerging generation. Within the fair, Artissima proposes three special sections: Present Future, New Entries and Extralarge.
Break 2.2
The Break 2.2 Festival (previously called Break 21 Festival) is an international art festival focused on urban, technologically supported artistic practices that can be considered part of the current avant-garde. The festival (now in its seventh year) has, in a relatively short time established itself as one of the most important festivals in Slovenia and gained worldwide recognition. Break 2.2 will take place from 17. 6. till 28. 6. at different venues in Ljubljana (Kapelica Gallery, Kiberpipa, Club K4, Slovenian Cinematheque, Ljubljana Castle ...)
KUNSTKOLN
In 2004 KUNSTKOLN will, for the fifth time, be presenting a wide range of artistic styles and media, focusing on the three main themes "Editions, Art Brut , Post-1980 Art and Photography". Around 120 galleries and editions will be showing paintings, work on paper, photographs, prints, multiples and art books by internationally renowned artists, undiscovered talent and up-and-coming young artists.
San Francisco International Art Exposition
Featuring more than 100 international galleries representing more than 2,000 artists, the show is an eclectic collection of modern and contemporary artwork in a variety of artistic styles and media that range from painting, drawing, photography and printmaking to sculpture, video, installation and mixed media. From museum-quality masterworks by Andy Warhol, Georgia O'Keeffe, David Hockney, Edward Weston, Richard Avedon and Willem de Kooning to works by young, cutting-edge artists, the San Francisco International Art Exposition provides private collectors, museum curators, corporate consultants and art enthusiasts with an opportunity to view and select work from a comprehensive exposition of 20th century art.
SPAZI APERTI
SPAZI APERTI is a collective artistic manifestation that aimes to reunite in the different alternative spaces of the Romanian Academy works of 43 scholars of foreign roman academies and also of 3 Italian artists. The main goal of this international project, concluded with the two weeks exhibition, is to generate a multidisciplinary medium (there are painters, sculptors, photographers, architects, musicians, choreographers, filmmakers), a benefic artistic environment where the main tools of expression for the young participants are interaction, communication and collaboration, not only between them or with the public, but also with a specific site. During the the exhibition take place several events (music, dance, video projections etc.) that will complete this multidisciplinary and international artistic frame desired, features suggested also by the name of the project: Spazi Aperti (Open Spaces). Finally it’s about art, people, interrelations.
The Armory Show
The Armory Show, the International Fair of New Art, is the world's leading art fair devoted exclusively to contemporary art. In its sixth annual exhibition, The Armory Show 2004 will present some 175 international galleries, including many of the most important contemporary dealers showcasing new art from around the world. New York is home to more collectors, galleries, critics and artists than any other city in the world. Next March, they will be joined by many thousands of their peers from around the globe making New York the true center of the international art world. The Armory Show is the successor to the highly acclaimed Gramercy International Art Fairs that attracted thousands to their New York, Los Angeles and Miami shows between 1994 and 1998. The Armory Show was first presented in February 1999 at the 69th Regiment Armory, the very site of the now legendary Armory Show of 1913 that introduced modern art to America and for which The Armory Show is named.
The International Fine Art Fair
The International Fine Art Fair features paintings, drawings and sculpture, mainly European and American, from the Renaissance to Modern Masters of the 1960s. Established 1994.
The Stray Show - Alternative Spaces Art Fair
The Stray Show, an event originally organized in collaboration with many local emerging contemporary art organizations and Thomas Blackman Associates (TBA), seeks to put the limelight on this rising community of alternative galleries, curators and artists by putting them under one roof for one weekend long exhibition. The Stray Show. Adopting an ad-hoc art fair format, The Stray Show embraces the values of the independence and resourcefulness of the alternative gallerist. By straying from current models and methodologies of mainstream galleries, these spaces fulfill a need for cutting-edge exhibition spaces sympathetic to the creative demands of emerging artists.
The Dublin Art Fair
The Dublin Art Fair is a new Galleries only Art fair and is taking place on the 11th - 14th September 2008 in the main hall of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), Dublin, Ireland. The fair will host exhibitions from approximately 58 Galleries. Over half of these are Irish based Galleries and the additional Galleries will be a comprehensive mix of UK and International Galleries. The fair is targeting the discerning buyers and collectors in Ireland and abroad and an international marketing and PR campaign to match the ambition of this project is being executed. The Irish art market has expanded rapidly over the past decade and Ireland is prime for an art fair of such international standing.
