Stepping forth from the world wide web, Raandesk prepares to show at Bridge Art Fair
The nature of the Raandesk Gallery of Art’s business is adaptability. Operating as a virtual gallery from its website, Raandesk has sought to open the gallery experience, removing its temporality and exclusivity, doing most of its business online. The bywords of their approach, “wherever, whenever,” and the term itself, coined by founder and director Jessica Porter, to mean “anything cool, fun, interesting or unique...Raandesk is a name, a noun, an adjective verb, and a way of thinking,” signify the gallery's flexibility in a changing art world.
While mostly selling and renting art from their online gallery, Raandesk has had its artists appear at a variety of nontraditional venues in a number of cities. On Thursday, March 27th, Raandesk will materialize in their hometown of New York City as part of the Bridge Art Fair. Bridge, which will take place at the former home of New York’s legendary Tunnel nightclub, is expanding after a series of acclaimed shows in Chicago, Miami, and London.."Bridge is a great show that's very much in line with the Raandesk philosophy of emerging talent, alternative venues, and for creating valuable opportunities, so to be in this show is very exciting,” said Porter.
Among Raandesk’s offerings at Bridg include:
Jason Bryant’s cropped photorealist
paintings,
Matt Kern’s intricate Polaroid assemblages,
Matej Sitar’s street scenes,
Lisa Beckner’s cornmeal and starch wall sculptures,
Anna Unierzyski’s functional wood sculptures,
Jeff Huntington’s unsettling portraits and
Eric Lopresti’s pairings of realist landscapes
